Las Lajas to Junin de los Andes
After Barb had visited the Informacion Turistica in Chos Malal, we decided on a detour away from the RN40. This route took us right to the Chilean border, up to the snow line and around a number of beautiful lakes.

We didn’t arrive at our destination until about 6.30 after travelling about 350 kilometres on good and bad bitumen, good, bad and very bad gravel roads and again suffering from visual overload. It should be said that there is plenty of daylight at this time of the year in Argentina. We have light till about 9.00pm and the sun gets up early, about 6.00ish.
The weather for the last week has been perfect – blue sky, warm during the day and cool at night – we’re treasuring this as we know it won’t last as we get further South.
Such delights! Love the photos and reminiscing of my travels in 89!
Happy travels dear friends.

Hi Ruth and Bob, yep, it’s a magical place. From our reading, things have probably changed a fair bit in Argentina over the past 30 odd years – but not the fantastic scenery! Hope all is well with you guys.
